Meljen's Designs Funny Bone Challenge

Yes, that's just what the title says - we are making humorous cards this week, and hope you like the sentiments from all the DT cards which are fabulous, and can see on our Challenge blog here:

So onto my card, then, a clean and simple design, so I can showcase this really cute digi!
Its called Little Possum and the link to the shop and the digi is below, just click on the image.

I coloured this little guy in promarkers and masked the image before inking the clouds in blue memento ink.
Hope you like the sentiment, am never normally good at my own sentiments, but this one seemed quite apt!

Pop along and join us for the challenge this week, there are some cute and whimsical images in Meljen's Designs' shop and some freebies you can use too!

Di's Digi Challenge and its a Christmas card

Hi everyone and its a bit late, but still hoping you are all enjoying your weekends!
I have a pastel Christmas card to share for Di's Digi Challenges, and the theme for the next fortnight is:

Hope you will join us as am sure there are loads of you who have dies and punches, with there being so many fantastic ones on the market at the moment (actually tooooo many.. its so tempting all the time!)

Here are some close up's of the card which you can see is a recessed aperture one - my current favourite and very easy card style at the moment.

The mirri card makes the recessed image really 'pop' and you can see the spine of the card, scored to accommodate the recess in the photo above.

My partially cut die cut poinsettia, a Marianne die, finished with Cheery Lynn Leaves (okay I know the leaves should be as big as the petals but I decided on smaller ones!)
I used flowersoft in yellow and polar white for the flowers and hat.

And another view - also the Poinsettia['s looked nicer in pink, so I decided to make them that colour LOL!
The medium used to colour this time wasn't anything I usually use, and I decided to use my watercolour tubes again (colours paynes grey, Chinese white, terre verte and permanent rose all Windsor and Newton watercolours).
The watercolouring on the digi image is hard, but I was very careful with the lines.

You can find the digi image by clicking on the picture below, and I will put up a tutorial tomorrow for changing the colours on digi lines (mine are grey on the card).

Hope you pop in tomorrow.

new goodies at Cottage Crafts

woohoo the pictures are up and the pearls and flowers are now on the website HERE

Here is a snippet of the gorgeous pearls and flowers:
- one thing to note about the pearls, is that they are not on a sticky strip (the sticky strips drive me nuts LOL), but have little adhesive glue dots under each pearl.

Bearly Mine Challenge #51 & Cuddly Buddly

Hi everyone, an popping in to share a card which I hope will chase the rain away, using a Bearly Mine digi paper set called Spring Delights and a Pachela Studios' digi image I found on the Cuddly Buddly website:

I love the Toby Tumble images they are sooo cute, and I knew the charm and the papers were meant to be used with this image!

Here is the card  - have used the new memory box cloud dies and a fiskars border punch as well as the Martha Stewart Photo corner punch.

and some more close up photos so you can see the clouds, which I inked and shaped...

Pop along and join us at Bearly Mine, where the Challenge this week is Anything Goes, and don't forget to pop along to the website where you can find lots of freebie papers AND some new blossoms to print out as well.

August cards

OK, yes I know its September, but here they are finally..

A great mans card which is so quick and effective, made with stamps away stamps, new memento colour called espresso truffle and my new favourite toy - Martha Stewart photo corner punch

A baby card in neutral colours using a stampavie stamp by Penny Johnson called Sleeping on the Moon, and the embossing from a Boofle Tri Boss embossing folder - the die cut is a Marianne Die

the baby sentiment is from Stampin Up

.. was so excited when the new LOTV stamps came out for Christmas, I just HAD to use one of those, for those who know me, know how I love love love all things LOTV!

I used a cuttlebug snowflake folder for this and partial embossing around the image, and a fiskars border corner punch, with some crystal like glitter for snow

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley too, and here is some more partial embossing on the inside of the card:

a wedding card using a newish Darice embossing folder and an old Lili of the Valley stamp which is still a firm favourite! The swirls are Magnolia dies as well as the leaf shape, and the sentiment shapes are spellbinder dies

and another book card to share (yep am addicted to them can you tell???????) using a Gorjuss stamp and that photo punch again!
Marianne dies, Martha Stewart leaves and EK success punched flowers to finish this one.

the inside of the book card - the little books in the stamp set finish this off perfectly!

the inside 'pages' - that yummy gorgeous purple ink is versamagic archival ink added with a finger dauber after the papers were distressed - papers from Craft Creations.

and a side on view:

a huge thanks to everyone who came and made these cards with me, and to the new crafters I met in Kilkenny with Marion Kilbride too!

Will pop back soon with some more projects, I have a few things half finished and will share them when done.

Meljen's Challenge #126 Back to School

Hi fellow crafters, am back with another book card for a Back to School Challenge, cos I am sooo addicted to making these easy little paper projects!

This is my first Challenge entry with Meljen's and am pleased to share this happy Penpal Mouse with you, which you can find HERE.

So I decided to make a book card with brown, fawn and gold coloured card stock and printed papers from Bearly Mine CD Designer Extreme Volume 2.
There are over 600 papers on this CD with all different themes - clean, vintage, dots, floral, stripes, masculine , etc etc - the list goes on and on..............
and you can get it here:

some close up photos -
I drew the red line on the printed papers with a ballpoint pen,
the mouse from Meljens Designs, link above, was coloured with promarkers,
the blackboard I made with card stock, die cut numbers, embossing folder, corner punch and garden twine and a brad..

The apple is a cuttlekids die, and the stars are punched out with an EK success corner punch..

and the inside..

The rear view which shows the papers from the CD - I didn't distress these at all, this is how they print out..

why don't you pop along and join in the challenge this week over at Meljen's Challenges?

Meljen's Design Team and a new release

Just wanted to share my news, that Melissa has added me to her talented, mad bunch of DT gals, and I am thrilled to be picked, thanks so much.
I love the images Melissa creates, they are so 'happy' and whimsical and just make me smile, so I am looking forward to creating lots of happy cards!
In the spirit of the olympics, I decided to use this hare for a man's card, well just PERFECT, since the guy likes athletics!

I coloured the digi image with promarkers and the papers used were from ALL BOY pack from My Minds Eye.
I also used craftwork cards candi stamps to personalise and add the sentiment.

If you want to hope along to Meljen's blog's here they are:

DI's Digi Challenge - Back to School

Its Saturday and its the weekend - yayyyyyyyy,  and time for another Di's Digi Challenge.
This time its back to school, and this card is for all those little ones who had their first day and might have found it a wee bit difficult - well done to all of you, and I would bet you will love it now!

Anyone looking at this card might spot that the colouring is a wee bit different - I have a few distress ink pads, so decided to give them a go and love the result - only the first attempt mind, and I need more colours too! Bit tricky with a digi image but I managed not to let the printed lines bled too much. Hope to do some more with the inks and build up my collection of colours now.
our sponsor this week is Sweet Stamps, so go on click on the Di's Digi Picture at the top of this post and play along, and thanks to sweet stamps for sponsoring our challenge!
