'Emboss Resist' ATC's with Distress Inks

... a couple of little AT'C's to show you for a swap over at Craft Creations - a new forum set up by the people where I buy good quality craft products - the shop / website is brilliant and the forum is a great new addition to what they already do so well!!
I saw this technique over at Stamp TV and just had to give it a try and really really like it so will use it on more cards in future.
One thing i did add as an extra was to emboss another flower and layer it after cutting it out - the flower stamps were from Stamp Addicts.

Di's Digi Baby Card

A warm hello to crafty friends and fellow bloggers, and apologies for not posting in agesssss! The cold weather made me want to hibernate, and being that my craft room is a bit chilly, the fire and tv or just about doing anything else was more welcoming these past couple of weeks than attempting to craft in the fridge.

That said, I finished off a card I started just before Christmas for a great friend who I visited last week and a special new arrival called Holly, and this was one of those cards I had so much pleasure in doing.
the digi image is from Di's Digi Downloads, and you can find it here - its called New Beginnings.

Updated to add - this image has been re released in January 2013 and is called Hammock Slumber, just as adorable as ever, and you can find it here

the image was coloured with my favourite H2O paints and I added polar white flower soft to the insides on the flowers.

the border punching is done with a Martha Stewart punch and the flower in the bottom right hand corner with a cuttlebug die called Asterisks which has asterisks (surprise surprise!) but also nicely shaped rounded flowers in the set which nest together very well.
the leaf punch is a Leone Em one - okay they are pricy but they are are sturdy and are a delight to work with (my next couple of cards WILL have the maidenhair fern one on at least one of them)
here is a closeup- of the colouring

here are some camera pictures to show the easel dimensions - i need new batteries!!

oops and nearly forgot, the border inside was embossed with a cuttlebug border embossing folder...

Wedding Rose

this is my first wedding card for 2011 and was a decoupage one made with the Christmas Rose Digi from Fred She Said, just left out the Christmassy berries, added some stickles after layering and here you go.

the embossing is done with a cuttlebug swiss dots folder and the appertures and labels done with a spellbinders die, and white organza ribbon added to cover the overlay where I had to emboss both sides to cover the whole top layer of white card.

the names are computer generated, and I added small gems to bring it together with the silver border.

New Beginnings and a New Challenge

Am a bit late posting this one - was meant to be yesterday but I was in the mood for spring cleaning so sorry its a bit late!!   Its the first for the new year, and the Making it with Meslyn Challenge this month is Something New - to try a new technique for the first time, or use one you have recently tried and loved, so a perfect way to start 2011.

On to the technique then, my good friend Karina pointed me in the direction of a post on Kathy's Daily Marker blog, and after seeing something similar in the second edition of Magnolia magazine I was excited to have a go. I loved this the first time I tried it, and instead of making the whole sky blue though, I first stuck on some peel off stars and dots and then distressed the sky (I like the way it turned out but want to do some more with some different colours too).

To add stickles make sure the ink is dry (took a deep breath hoping this wouldn't mix or run) and then its fine and adds some sparkle to the stars.

If you would like to purchase the digi image called 'Celebration Time' then hop over to Di's Digi Downloads.

Here is a closeup of the distressing and colouring which was done with twinkling H2O's

Making it with Meslyn has a prize up for grabs for the winner of this months challenge, PLUS there is the opportunity to be picked for a GUEST DT slot, so go on and take the challenge here.

I am also entering this card in Mojo Monday Challenge as I liked the sketch for this week
