Halloween at Di's Digi Challenge Blog

Hello from me, yes I have been a stranger for a while LOL. Been busy crafting and doing other things as well, so blog was neglected again, oops!

Its that time of year ALREADY when the clocks have gone back and the autumn colours are out and of course Halloween is upon us! I love the crisp bright days though when it doesn't rain and I do love autumn as much as spring.

Onto my card for this week's challenge at Di's Digi Challenge Blog, using Di's Magic Spell image - how cute is this little witch....... he he he he...........

I did some paper piecing which you can just about tell from the photo (sorry it was getting dark when I took it earlier) and although its time consuming I am happy with the result and want to use this technique more - flat stamped images just seem ordinary now!

...and here is the full easel card - in  8 x 8 size with all its gems and flowers etc,
The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs which you can find here, its called Happy Hauntings.

The dies used for this card are a mixture of Spellbinders, Go Kreate, Marianne D and a Martha Stewart punch, and the image was coloured with Faber Castell polychromos pencil crayons (only sansador added to the face).

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Bearly Mine Challenges - Flowers Galore
Mojo Monday 265 - Round or Square sketch
Cute Card Thursday - Something Scary
Fussy and Fancy - Anything Goes
Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog - What's Cookin
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - Not just an ORDINARY card - mine is an easel

will be popping back with another Halloween card tomorrow

Halloween Moon Di's Digi Downloads

Here's the other Di's Digi image card I promised last week. you can find the image HERE.

I coloured the image with Twinkling H2O's and the embossing on the orange card is a cuttlebug folder called Pumpkin Harvest.
The distressed paper is downloaded from Free Digital Scrapbooking and can be found HERE, and I added balck soot distress ink to it after printing.
The pumpkin embellishment is made with a two step cut and emboss cuttlebug die, and I added an extra couple of leaves and inked with a light brown (on the pumpkin) and some olive green to give it some more 'shape'.

This was entered for a sketch challenge on a forum and I think I need bigger size oval nestabilities, as I used the largest size, but would have liked it if the image was bigger - wonder if I can add that to my Christmas wish list??

Halloween is coming!

.. the last few bits to share today, halloween treat bags and Halloween card we made at the workshop yesterday..

The treat bags are from an idea I saw on Stamp TV and altered a bit to suit the halloween theme, like adding handles with spiders punched out of the corners, and to keep the treats inside secure, added a ribbon which is tied around the handles.

The card is an A5 one which orange border was punched with a Martha Stewart punch, and the mummy image is a Magnolia Stamp called Mummy Edwin, coloured in with Twinkling H2O's, as are the windows in the scary house.

The scary house was made by embossing a white piece of card with a cuttlebug folder and then brayering the whole thing with black memento ink and a brayer several times, and the nice thing about memento, is its not too dark and covers well and dries very quickly.

Added a BOO! message from cuttlebug die, and bats from quickutz die, both cut from funky foam.

here is a closeup of the card:

Autumn Cards

A couple of new makes to share with you, and we also made these yesterday at the workshop. Yesterday was a great day, we had loads of fun and a warm welcome for our new crafters, I think you girls thought we were a mad bunch, must have been something in the air yesterday.

So there was lots of nattering and at one point my cheeks ached from laughing, and we still did really well having finished all 6 projects without rushing for the door (this normally happens cos there is never enough time in the day is there when you're crafting?!) So thanks ladies, you worked really hard and am impressed at how easily all the treat bags came together.

I will post those separately when I can get a decent picture, but in the meantime, here are the last of this years' autumn cards.

The first is a just rite stamps sunflower card in black, white and dark cream / mustard yellow colours and the sunflower is stamped three times and layered, removing petals each time another layer is added. The embossing was done using two different cuttlebug folders, and the punch is a fiskars one called apron lace.

Finally added some dew drops coloured with alcohol inks and made with a glue gun.

The second card is one using a house mouse stamp called Autumn Cruise. I fell in love with this stamp when I saw it its sooo cute. We learned a new technique with nestabilities with this one, by using only part of the nestability die in the bug, you can create your own shapes or borders - for this one we used labels four, the largest die and only die cut the ends of the rectangle shaped layers in dark cream, dark red and ivory.

The sentiment is computer generated and the leaves are die cut from cuttlebug leaves cutting dies and then embossed with a cuttlebug folder, the same folder used on the sunflower card. The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs, the set is called Just Plaid and can be purchased HERE.

Will pop back later with the other Christmas card we made and the Halloween ones.
